Ecatenate Builds Webfleet and DVLA Integration for Vtec Solutions
Vehicle records are usually accurate on the day they’re entered and slowly stop being true thereafter. Tax renewals, MOT expiries and registration changes happen out in the world; the fleet system only finds out if somebody remembers to go and check. For a handful of vehicles that’s manageable. For two hundred, it doesn’t happen.
Ecatenate has built a system for Vtec Solutions that removes the manual step entirely, connecting the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service directly to Webfleet.
What it does
The integration uses the WEBFLEET.connect API alongside the GOV.UK DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service API to automatically synchronise official vehicle data — tax status, MOT, registration and vehicle details — with the corresponding records in Webfleet.
The significance is where the data comes from. Rather than a figure typed in by a person and trusted indefinitely, each vehicle record is reconciled against the authoritative government source, on an ongoing basis.
Why it matters
- Compliance gaps surface automatically — a lapsed MOT or expired tax shows up in the fleet system, not at the roadside
- No manual checking — no one looking up registrations one at a time on GOV.UK
- Records stay accurate as fleets change — vehicles come and go without the data quietly drifting
- A verified source of truth — vehicle details are confirmed against DVLA rather than assumed
